Who We Help

Princeton Justice Initiative provides civil legal aid and social services counseling to people in need who live in the Mercer and Somerset county area.

Most legal aid organizations only can help people if their income is below the federal poverty level. Princeton Justice Initiative is different. We help the many disadvantaged people who fall between the cracks in the traditional legal aid system including those who are:

  • Homeless, living in poverty, disabled, seniors or veterans
  • Employed, ineligible for legal aid but still unable to afford an attorney
  • Thrust into situational poverty due to sudden job loss or personal crisis
  • Food insecure or do not have access to healthcare, education, employment or income to provide for basic necessities
  • Clients of non-profit organizations which assist the poor and disadvantaged
  • Facing domestic violence
  • Parents of children with special needs
  • In need of help with immigration-related problems
